1. Always trim wick to 1/4 inch before lighting candle.
2. Always keep wax free from foreign objects.
3. Never leave a burning candle unattended.
4. Always burn candles on a heat resistant surface. Candle containers and holders may become hot.
5. Place Pillars or any other freestanding candles on a candleholder or in a shallow dish or bowl to catch the wax in
case of wax leakage.
6. If a candle burns unevenly it is in a draft which you may or may not be able to see. Rotate the candle 90 degrees
periodically to keep burning uniform, or move to another location. With pillar candles, only burn for 1 hour for each inch
of diameter. This allows the wax to soften to the edges, and prevents the cratering effect where the candle burns a hole down
the middle. After extinguishing the flame, with hands cupped around the top of the candle, gently press inwards to help keep
the edges straight. This is known as "hugging" the candle. This helps the sides stay intact, and allows the candle to have
a much longer burn time.
7. Burning candles no longer than 4 to 5 hours at a time will increase total burn time.
8. Container candles (jar candles, votives in holders, etc...) should be burned 1 hour for each inch of diameter. This
allows the wax pool to cover the entire surface, and extends the burning time.
9. Refrigerating candles for a few minutes before burning extends burning time. Be careful, refrigerating too long can
cause cracks in the candle.
